Forget The Crown, the latest royal family scandal series is about to drop thanks to Harry & Meghan, a tell-all documentary series from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Streaming on Netflix throughout December, the six-part series is set to track Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s historic 2020 exit from the British Royal Family — dubbed as Megxit by the British tabloids — with the couple sharing their perspective as to what went wrong and what lead to their ultimate decision to step away from the House of Windsor.
In the first of two trailers teasing the series, Prince Harry says, “No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors.”
The series is part of a lucrative deal signed between the Sussexes and Netflix following their move to California, which is rumoured to be worth USD$100 million and involves other projects outside of the documentary.
While the Royal Family hasn’t provided any official comment on the show, Meghan and Harry have come under fire for the trailers after internet sleuths revealed that the paparazzi footage used in the trailer comes from red carpet events, the pursuit of other celebrities, and has been used misleadingly.
So, keen to tune in to see what Harry has to say about what went down? Here’s everything we know so far about Harry & Meghan:
When Can I Watch Harry & Meghan in Australia?
The six episodes of Harry & Meghan will be given two air dates. The first three episodes will be released on Netflix Australia on 8 December and the final three will drop in a second instalment on 15 December. Episodes are expected to be available to watch from 7pm AEST on the release dates.
What Will Harry & Meghan Cover?
Netflix says the series “explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.”
The streaming giant also says the series will include comments from friends and family who have never before gone on the record, as well as looking at the history of the monarchy and British Commonwealth.
How Is Harry & Meghan Different From Other Projects?
To date, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have only given one on-the-record interview about their decision to step back from their royal duties with Oprah Winfrey. Royal correspondent Omid Scobey published a book, Finding Freedom, that detailed the exit and also included insight from insiders. Prince Harry also has a memoir, Spare, slated for release in 2023.
