Sydney just got its first gin refilling station, and let’s hope it’s the first of many. Locally grown and distilled craft gin brand Garden Grown Gin has partnered with artisanal bottle shop The Drink Hive at Rosebery warehouse The Cannery to encourage drinkers to mindfully re-use their empty bottles and reduce waste, all while being treated to stellar gin.
Running for the month of March, the gin refilling station will see customers able to refill their bottles with Grown Spirits’ award-winning Garden Grown Gin for $76 (per 70ml), rather than the full retail price of $85. As a bonus, they’ll be reducing waste by not using another bottle.
“Ten years ago, when we created our bottle, we were mindful of unnecessary waste and designed it to have a life beyond just single-use,” said Frank Bethel, co-owner of Grown Spirits.
“That’s why we’ve always actively encouraged our customers to repurpose their bottles as a vase or water bottles. And now with this initiative, people can refill their bottle with our gin, so saving waste while saving a bit of money.”
Gregoire Bertaud, owner of The Drink Hive added: “Sustainability is key for our business and we beyond thrilled to partner with Grown Spirits to launch the first refill station in Sydney with their award-winning Garden Grown gin.”
While refillable options for wine and beer have been gaining momentum in recent years, this is the first time gin will be offered to Sydney customers in this way.
The Gin Refill Station will run from now until Thursday, March 31 at The Drink Hive, The Cannery, 61-71 Mentmore Avenue, Rosebery, NSW 2018.
