After reminding us why they are some of the most beloved performers in the music world with a sold out, one off show in Geelong, Foo Fighters have announced that they will be embarking on an Aussie stadium tour in 2022.

The Grammy-winning band will be hitting up Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Wellington and Auckland, making it their first headline tour of both countries since 2018.

Joining the Foos as supporting acts will be some very special Aussie guests including Amyl and the Sniffers, The Chats, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Teenage Joans and Hot Milk, with the tour kicking off on Wednesday 30 November at HBF Park in Perth.

The 12-time Grammy Award-winning US rockers, who were inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, performed a one-off concert at Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium on Friday 4 March, as part of the Always Live initiative. The concept was the vision of the late Michael Gudinksi and brought to life by his son Matt, and is the only Australian Major Event dedicated to highlighting live contemporary music from home and abroad, spotlighting Victoria (Gudinksi’s home state) as the key cultural destination for audiences across the Asia-Pacific.

During the Geelong show, which took place in front of 30,000 fans, frontman Dave Grohl teased that while they were in the country for just a night, they would soon be back, getting everyone excited that a tour was on the horizon.

The band also recently released their first feature film — a horror-comedy by the name of Studio 666which was in Aussie cinemas for just a week. The movie centred around the guys trying to record their tenth studio album in a haunted house and Grohl becoming possessed by demonic spirits in the process.

After 27 years, ten studio albums and too many shows to count, Foo Fighters have no plans to retire any time soon with Grohl telling Rolling Stone in 2021 that he is already thinking about the next album and he can’t see himself slowing down.

“It still blows my mind that when you go to see someone like Paul McCartney, he does a one-and-a-half-hour-long soundcheck for fans, all the songs that they won’t be playing that night, he said. “Then he goes and has a dinner, walks out and plays for three f—king hours. And then afterwards, hangs out all night? And is the last one on the dance floor? For real? Where does that energy come from?”
