Shorter Girls, Let Me Introduce Your New Favourite Shoes

Shoes

Short women gather round, I’ve just found your new favourite shoes. And better yet: They’re comfortable.

It’s a challenge that us on the petite side of the spectrum know all too well: To choose something to add a bit of height and invariably suffer or to choose something comfortable and be tilting your neck upwards all night long? What. A. Dilemma.

While I’m a huge advocate of platform sneakers, they’re more than often chunky — and that doesn’t always work with what I’m wearing. So what to do when you want shoes that are a little fancier than your go-to not-so-secretly height enhancing sneakers without missing out on the comfort factor.

I’ve got the perfect answer… and it still involves a platform.

After much trial and error, I’ve finally met my shoe soul mate: The nude, platform sandals. And while, yes, there are a few qualifiers there, each aspect is equally important in the equation for the perfect shoe.

While the colour naturally extends the look of your leg, the platform keeps the comfort there in a way that wedges don’t.

Plus the sandal aspect is perfect for summer or dressing up an outfit that would look too casual with sneakers.

Keep reading for a few examples, and who knows — maybe you’ll even end up with a new favourite in your shopping basket.

Betts, Kaz Wedge Platform Slides

Wedges

Betts, Kaz Wedge Platform Slides

R.R.P $77.00

I bought these on a whim with fairly low expectations, but wow have they ever impressed me. While they’re a fairly recent purchase, I can’t say much about durability, but they were undeniably comfortable from day one.

The woven heel looks less cheap than a faux cork alternative would. If you’re after a bargain shoe that still looks good, this might be the one for you.

With the same woven detailing, these shoes look equally as summary as the Betts option but with a little added flair. The slight heel here is also a little funky, bringing a more 70’s vibe to the table.

Jimmy Choo, Dede 125 Suede Platform Mules

Jimmy Choo, Dede 125 Suede Platform Mules

R.R.P $435

These ones are currently 40%, AKA buy them now. Made by Jimmy Choo, you know they’ll be high quality, and the shaped heel looks a little more polished. These 5-inch heels will add desired height without killing your feet. Wear them out or to the beach, they’re versatile enough to swing either way.
