Josh Thomas’ New Show Looks Really Weird And Frankly, We Love It

Everything's Gonna Be Okay

In 2013, Josh Thomas debuted Please Like Me, a comedy which received critical acclaim worldwide.

Based on his own personal experiences, the comedian won the AACTA Award for Best Comedy and was even nominated for Best Comedy at the International Emmy® Awards, Europe’s Rose d’Or Awards, America’s GLAAD Media Awards and Australia’s Logie Awards.

Now, Thomas is back with a brand new show, Everything’s Going To Be Okay.

The series, which is set and filmed in the US, will premiere January 17 on Stan, starring Thomas as Nicholas, a neurotic twenty-something-year-old visiting his dad and teenage half-sisters, Genevieve (Maeve Press) and Matilda (Kayla Cromer) – whom is on the autism spectrum.

After their father dies suddenly, the siblings are left to cope with not only the loss, but the realisation that Nicholas will now have to become guardian.

The show will navigate autism, sexuality, consent, parenthood, adolescence, family and grief – one awkward conversation at a time.

The trailer (watch below) is just as kooky and uncomfortable as you would expect from Thomas and frankly, we love it.

It begins at the funeral of their father, where sister Matilda says:

“Hello, I will be doing dad’s eulogy. I have autism. Dad used to get frustrated when I always made things about myself. But, he is dead now. Surprise!”

As usual, Thomas meshes together his comedic awkwardness with that of everyday themes and nails it perfectly.

Everything’s Gonna Be Okay premieres January 17 only on Stan, with new episodes weekly.
