A Scripted Series About Elon Musk’s SpaceX Is Coming

Elon Musk

Have you ever wanted to see what really goes on in Elon Musk’s world? Well, you’re about to get an inside glimpse with a scripted series about SpaceX, the space exploration company founded by Musk.

The series, which is being developed by HBO, will be based on Ashlee Vance’s book Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.

According to Variety, the story will centre around Musk and his lifelong dream to make humankind a multi-planetary species”. He handpicks a team of engineers to work on a remote Pacific Island where they build, and launch, the first SpaceX rocket into orbit.

Channing Tatum (yes, from Magic Mike fame) will serve as executive producer on the project alongside Doug Jung (who wrote Star Trek Beyond), who will also write the series.

According to the outlet, Musk himself is not actually attached to the project and there’s no word on who will play the trailblazer in the series.

SpaceX is the first privately funded space exploration site and launched the manned Falcon 9 into space on May 30, 2020.

Currently, Musk is working alongside Hollywood star Tom Cruise developing a feature film to be shot in outer space. Yes, “shot” in outer space. Not “set” in outer space.

According to TMZ back in September, Cruise will be joining on a SpaceX Crew Dragon rocket and capsule to the International Space Station in October 2021 to start filming in orbit.

The outlet also reported that Cruise will be joined by his Edge of Tomorrow director, Doug Liman for the project.

Pretty exciting stuff.
