It’s long been said that in Adelaide, you can get anywhere you want to be in 20 minutes. Even though the city is starting its suburban sprawl, that saying still rings somewhat true. If you’re looking at visiting Adelaide, this means your booking options are endless.
That’s a good thing when you’re starting to research hotel prices. To help you out, we’ve rounded up some of the best hotels in Adelaide with rooms for $250 or under a night.
From a property that feels like you’re at a Palm Springs resort, to a boutique hotel featuring artworks by an Indigenous artist it’s named after, these are a few of the current best cheap Adelaide hotels.
Adabco Boutique Hotel
Adabco Boutique Hotel is housed in a heritage-listed Venetian Gothic building erected in 1897. It was once home to Our Boy’s Institute, a precursor to the YMCA. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Rundle Mall and 15 minutes from Central Markets and Botanic Gardens. It’s also pet-friendly for an $80 fee per pet. Room rates start at $221 a night.
The Watson
The Watson is a boutique hotel by Australian hospitality brand Art Series. Like other hotels in the brand, it features artwork by the artist it’s named after – in this case, Indigenous artist Yannima Pirkarli Tommy Watson, known for works in desert colours. The hotel boasts a 25-metre lap pool, gym and on-site restaurant. Rooms start at $249 a night.
The Terrace Hotel
The Terrace Hotel overlooks South Parklands with rooms on higher floors afforded views of the Adelaide Hills and Mount Lofty or west over the suburbs of Adelaide and the Gulf Saint Vincent. After taking in the view, head to lunch or dinner downstairs at the hotel’s Terrace Bar and Kitchen. Rooms start at $249 a night or spend more for a room with a balcony.
Adelaide Paringa
Adelaide Paringa is in a heritage-listed building in the CBD, a five-minute walk to Sky City Casino and Rundle Mall and a 10-minute walk from Adelaide Oval and Adelaide Convention Centre. Its 45 rooms vary in size from twin rooms to deluxe family rooms, which can sleep up to four guests. Basic rooms start at $229 a night.
Hotel Alba
Though room rates at Hotel Alba start at $259 a night, it’s still worth mentioning. Opened late 2023, the hotel took over a transformed Chifley property and now has a Palm Springs feel to it, complete with a pool, surrounded by natural stone and striped umbrellas. Inside, the hotel features navy and terracotta accents, adding to its desert city feel.
The Soho Hotel
The Soho Hotel in East End is a boutique hotel with just 29 rooms, studio size to spa suite on the fifth floor. After exploring Adelaide, unwind in its heated rooftop pool. In the morning, grab coffee at next-door restaurant The Flinders Street Project. Prices start at $229 a night.
TRYP by Wyndham Pulteney Street
TRYP by Wyndham Pulteney Street has rooms fitting up to three people, a fitness centre and a restaurant and bar. Adelaide Central Market is a 15-minute walk away, while The Art Gallery of South Australia is 18 minutes. The hotel only opened in March 2023, so rooms and facilities are modern. Room rates can be as low as $184 a night, depending on the date.
