NRL legend Benji Marshall has been crowned the winner of Celebrity Apprentice Australia, beating out Darren McMullen in the grand finale. The two went head-to-head in the hopes to raise the most amount of money possible for their chosen charity, but in the end, Benji was the clear winner.
That doesn’t mean Darren shouldn’t be proud of himself. Through his skills, wit and network, the TV personality managed to raise a whopping grand total of over $552,000 for Feel the Magic, a charity that helps young children deal with the loss of a loved one.
However, the winner of the series was based on who could bring in the most amount of money from the final challenge, and Darren sadly fell short. The contestant raised $152,000 compared to Benji, who raised over $300,000 for his chosen charity Souths Cares.
Souths Cares supports disadvantaged, marginalised and Indigenous youth and families, with a specific focus on education, training, health and employment.
“I’m so happy to have been able to raise such a great amount of money for Souths Cares. It will go a long way to supporting the youth and communities in Redfern and contributing to the outstanding work of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, which is something very close to my heart,” said Benji.
“This has been a life-changing experience, and Darren was a deserving finalist. Becoming very close friends, I’m glad he and I, as well as all the other celebrities, were able to do so much to support our chosen charities.”
At the end of the day, there is no winner or loser when charities are involved, and every contestant in this year’s season of Celebrity Apprentice Australia did some remarkable work for their chosen charities.
