Tiger King: Murder Mayhem and Madness took the world by storm when it was released on Netflix just under six months ago. The crazy story about Joe Maldonado-Passage aka Joe Exotic was intriguing and almost unbelievable.
One of the most polarising characters to come out of the series is big cats activist and CEO of Big Cat Rescue, Carole Baskin.
While she claims to be a character with a high moral compass, Exotic accused Baskin of killing her first husband Don Lewis, after he disappeared from his home in 1997. Lewis was never seen or heard from again and was legally declared dead in 2002. Baskin has strenuously denied her involvement, however, there have been many questions surrounding his death.
In the new true-crime docuseries 48 Hours Suspicion (which airs in the US on September 9), a woman has come forward with new information.
The first episode, titled The Tiger King Mystery, will focus on Lewis’ disappearance and features interviews from some of the key players.
During the show, a woman named Trish Farr-Payne claims that her ex-husband Kenny Farr may have played a role in Lewis’ death.
Farr worked as a handyman for both Baskin and her former husband and according to Farr-Payne, two days after the businessman went missing, her husband warned her, “Don’s gone, and I don’t want you talking about him.”
According to Farr-Payne, someone left a large, padlocked freezer on her front porch that seemed to vanish “about a week after Don disappeared.”
“You know, I had my kids. I was afraid of them. I was more afraid for them than anything,” she says in the interview, citing that they were the reason she didn’t come forward sooner.
The episode will feature an interview with Lewis’ ex-wife and children, and will no doubt cover the fact that his daughters believe Baskin fed their father to her tigers.
While this theory has become a world-wide meme, in 1998, Baskin told People that her “tigers eat meat; they don’t eat people.”
“There would be bones and remains of my husband out there. I’m amazed that people would even think such a thing,” she said.
