Good News if You’re In Brisbane—You Can Now Fly Direct to Vanuatu’s Largest Island

Sure, Queensland has its own white-sand beaches and sparkling waters, but it’s no Vanuatu. The island life is calling, and Brisbanites will soon be able to fly direct to Vanuatu’s largest island, Santo.

Air Vanuatu has confirmed the launch of its direct Brisbane to Santo service, which will commence on June 8, 2023. Solomon Airlines will operate the service on behalf of Air Vanuatu on an Airbus A320.

Locals can expect the once-weekly service to depart Brisbane Airport Thursdays at 10:30 am, arriving in Santo at 1:20 pm (local time), and depart Santo International Airport Thursdays at 3:20 pm, with an expected 5 pm arrival into Brisbane.

 “The airline is delighted to expand its service offering from Australia and launch the direct international flight from Brisbane to Santo,” says Air Vanuatu acting CEO Joseph Laloyer.

“Since Vanuatu’s border reopening in July 2022, we have been welcoming passengers internationally to Port Vila and beyond domestically. This announcement represents a fantastic moment in our ongoing recovery since borders reopened mid-last year and will help further support and boost tourism in the northern part of the country.”

Vanuatu is home to some of the most stunning beaches in the world, with crystal-clear waters and white sand. The islands are also home to lush rainforests, towering waterfalls, and active volcanoes. One of the most popular activities in Vanuatu is diving. The country has some of the best diving spots in the world, with a variety of marine life and coral reefs to explore. Visitors can also take part in snorkelling, kayaking, and hiking.
