Billie Eilish has had an exceptional year. The 18-year-old has not only swept up the four top awards at this year’s Grammy Awards, but her rendition of The Beatles classic Yesterday for the In Memoriam segment at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards was a showstopper.
Now, the Bad Guy singer has released the theme song to the forthcoming film No Time To Die, the latest installment in the James Bond franchise.
To say that it is a masterpiece would be an understatement — because just like the tones of her Oscars performance, it remains respectful to themes gone past.
The orchestral arrangement by renowned composer Hans Zimmer and Eilish’s soulful voice are the perfect mix, truly proving that she is not just a one-trick pop pony.
Written alongside her brother and collaborator Finneas O’Connell, the pair pay homage to Bond’s (Daniel Craig) new No Time To Die demeanour — cool with a mysterious and dark undertone.
With the release of the song, Eilish has become the youngest artist ever to write and record a Bond theme; following in the footsteps of Adele, Sam Smith and Sir Paul McCartney.
While you can purchase and stream the song now, the All The Good Girls Go To Hell singer will first perform it live at the Brit Awards in London on February 18 — hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall.
This is the second single the Grammy winner has released since her incredible debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?.
The album earned Grammy’s for Album of the Year and Pop Vocal Album of the Year plus Record and Song of the Year for Bad Guy and later this year, we’ll see a full documentary about the Grammy winner on Apple TV — one that is four years in the making.
Winning a staggering six of the seven awards she was nominated for, Billie Eilish was certainly the perfect choice for Bond.
