The ‘Toy Squad’ has spoken. Responsible for testing the latest toys, the pint-sized group at retailer Big W has identified their picks for the best kid games and gadgets of 2022.
In videos on the retailer’s site, the squad runs through their favourite toys — including Gabby’s Dollhouse Talking Pandy Paws, Hot Wheels Monster Mover Rhino and Disney’s 4- piece Hooyay Big Band Set — explaining how they work and why they’re winning sources of entertainment in their eyes.
Their selection will all be available at Big W’s ‘Greatest Toy Event in the Universe’ in stores and online Tuesday, June 14 to Thursday, June 16, which will see toy prices across the board majorly slashed.

If you’re thinking about buying your kid new toys, consider donating a few old ones to Big W’s free Toys for Joy programme.
Now available at all Big W stores, the first-of-its-kind toy recycling programme aims to reduce the number of toys that could otherwise be thrown away or chucked into landfill. With the help of recycling company TerraCycle, the pre-loved toys are then used to create new play equipment for communities that need it most.
“The majority of toys aren’t kerbside recyclable and end up in landfill because they’re made up of complex materials like metal, rubber and a variety of plastics,” said Jean Bailliard, General Manager of TerraCycle Australia, in praise of the programme.
