The Provincial
Fitzroy
The Provincial is one of Brunswick Street’s more versatile pubs, turning into a full rave nightclub on Saturday nights, a latin dance party venue, a great rooftop for a hot summer’s day and an excellent spot for cheap knock-off drinks. Their happy hour runs from 4pm-6pm Monday-Friday, offering up $8 pints, wines and spirits and $10 spritzes. They have a great selection of booze too, so there’s something for the whole team.
Brunetti
Carlton
Brunetti offers perhaps the most Italian version of Happy Hour: L’Aperitivo. Doing it as they do in Italy, with every aperitivo drink Aperol spritz , Campari and soda, negroni etc) you get a plate of Italian snacks for free. Brunetti offers this Euro-fied happy hour special on Fridays from 4pm only, but it’s worth going past after work on other days as they often have two for one drink specials too.
Amarillo
Fitzroy
I’ll be honest, I’m not 100% sure about the details of this happy hour because in true Fitzroy fashion, nothing is online. But I’ve experienced it myself, so trust and believe me when I say it’s a good’un. From 5pm-7pm (I think) most days, Amarillo serve up $12 Negronis and Spritzes and cheap select wine and beer. The best part about this happy hour, is that everything Amarillo pumps out is bloody delicious, so you’re getting a sweet deal.
Marquis of Lorne
Collingwood
Every weekday from 4pm-6pm Marquis of Lorne crack open half-priced tinnies, which you can drink by the fire, out the front or up on the rooftop. They also have a $20 steak night on Tuesdays.
Catfish
Fitzroy
Start your week right with $4 pots, $7 pints and $8 Philly cheesesteaks on Mondays, or get your New Orleans fix on Wednesday for 50c wings and live blues tunes.
Half Moon
Brighton
Calling all private school babes, on weekdays from 5-7pm at Half Moon you can get yourself $5 Colonial and Carlton Draught pots and $12 French Champagne. But Wednesday is where it’s really at. Happy hour goes all day long and includes a half-priced parma. Dreamy.
Ines
Windsor
Ines believes in mid-week treats, offering a special on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This Chapel Street wine bar lays out Italian grazing plates plus 250ml carafes of wine for you to enjoy with work mates and friends for just $35 a pop.
The Workers Club
Fitzroy
Monday nights at The Workers Club is where it’s at. A premium live music venue in the heart of Fitzroy, with rich history, great culture and always good vibes, they dish out $2 pots, $4 pints, $6 basics, $8 jugs and $10 meals on Monday nights from 5pm only. They also have live DJ’s every week, which means you can turn Monday night into whatever you want it to be.
Hemingway’s Wine Room
East Melbourne
Wine and cheese Wednesdays at Hemingway’s Wine Room is right up my alley, with $15 French Champagne and $8 wedges of gourmet cheese. This is a happy hour special for those French-lovers among us, but it’s such good value.
Palermo
Little Bourke Street
On Monday-Thursday, Palermo offers up an empanada and Patagonian Pilsner deal for $9 between 4-6pm. Perfect for that one drink/snack on the way home from work.
