Bangn Body’s Illuminating Firming Lotion Is a Dream for Nourishing Dry Skin

Bangn Body

You’ve probably seen this gold tube in the hands of influencers and beauty enthusiasts across social media. The latest release from cult beauty brand, Bangn Body, is the Illuminating Firming Lotion and it’s already a hit.

Described as the 2.0 version of the original Firming Lotion, the newbie packs a glowy punch thanks to the addition of sapphire infused vintage gold pigment which is made from biodegradable mica that stems from the sapphire crystal.

When I say it’s glowy, I mean it. A small squirt of the lotion leaves your skin looking super shimmery and imparts a distinct golden hue. If you’re not a fan of overly shimmery products, then it might not be your vibe.

Personally, I’m a fan of the golden finish it leaves on my skin and will definitely be using this come summer, especially over my decolletage.

The lotion itself is rich and creamy, with an almost whipped texture that rubs in really quickly. Despite feeling quite thick, the lotion sinks into skin well and doesn’t leave a sticky or greasy feeling.

Considering the product contains a number of deeply hydrating ingredients like jojoba seed oil, sunflower oil, aloe vera leaf oil, avocado oil and shea butter, there is no oily residue. It doesn’t require loads of rubbing to incorporate into your skin either, which as someone who hates that ‘coated’ feeling some products leave, this is a major plus for me.

As for the firming effect, I’m not quite sure. I used it on pretty much every part of my body for a few days and while I did notice a slight plumping effect, I can’t say that anything looker firmer, as such.

Despite the lack of firming power, I do love the multipurpose nature of the product, as you can use it across your whole body and face. With cold weather (and hot showers) drying out my skin in a big way, I’ve been using Bangn Body to combat that scaly feeling on my arms and legs and it’s seriously helped.

It can also be used as a facial moisturiser and I have particularly enjoyed layering it under my foundation as a primer so the golden glow is noticeable but not overwhelming. Rubbing a small amount into your cheekbones also works as a natural-looking highlighter.

At $56 for a 150ml tube, it certainly is spenny for a lotion. But, a little bit of product really does go a long way so you wouldn’t be racing through it super quickly. I’ve used it pretty solidly for a week and barely made a dent in the tube.

Another win for me is the fact that the Illuminating Firming Lotion is Australian owned and made and isn’t tested on animals. It’s also free of all silicones, parabens, sulfates (SLS/SLES), GMOs, mineral oils, PEGs, chemical UV filters petrolatum or synthetic colours.

As for the packaging, it’s ethically made from 100% recyclable aluminium tubes with BPA free linings and eco-friendly dyes. The aluminium tubes also prevent air particles and bacteria from entering the product and therefore help to keep it fresher for longer.

The one major downside for me is the smell of the lotion. On first use, I was overwhelmed by the incredibly sweet, pineapple scent. I always gravitate to products that have no or extremely subtle scents and this definitely does not fall into that category.

For others, the smell could be reminiscent of summer holidays but this particular feature just doesn’t quite do it for me. Considering how much I like the product, it is something I can look past in order to reap the hydrating and glowy benefits.

You can shop Bangn Body’s Illuminating Firming Lotion via the Bangn Body website or in-store and online at MECCA.
