Another day, another stop on the road to the Academy Awards next month. Award season is in full swing, with the 2023 BAFTA Awards done and dusted for the year.
Leading the way was German war film All Quiet on the Western Front, which snagged seven wins, including Best Film and Best Film not in the English Language.
It also took home awards for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Original Score and Best Director for Edward Berger. With its seven wins, All Quiet on the Western Front set a new record for most awards won by a non-English language film, surpassing 1988’s Cinema Paradiso, which won five awards.
It was also a great year at the BAFTAs for Australians. Cate Blanchett won Best Actress for her role in Tár, and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis walked away with four wins, including Best Actor for Austin Butler.
Read on for the full list of winners at the 2023 BAFTA awards.
