Many can rarely say that they’ve done Survivor more than once, let alone three times but Shonee Bowtell can! The three-peat Castaway has tried her hand at 2018’s Champions v Contenders, All Stars in 2020, and now Heroes Vs Villains. She’s loved by audiences all over Australia, is definitely a challenge beast, and will go down in reality TV history as the only person to be on Australian Survivor three times.
Bowtell’s motives for competing have changed from needing to step out of her now ex-husband’s glory 5 years ago to just wanting to do her best and seeing what pans out in this season. Across her last two Survivor runs, she’s played a total of 89 days and placed 4th and 7th but this time round, she is more prepared and hungrier than ever before.
She raves about the impact of pilates and maturity on her gameplay, saying, “I’m more prepared than ever because now I actually exercise. I am hitting Pilates five to six times a week. I am so shocked that I am so into exercise. All those fit people that say, ‘Exercise is good for your mental health!’ are right. As much as it pains me to say it. I am more of an adult now since last time I played. I love having an empty washing basket. There’s no better feeling.”
Prior to her recent tribe switch from Villains to Heroes, Bowtell was more relieved to be playing for the dark side.
“I’m so glad I’m not on the Heroes tribe, that just seems like a whole big snoozefest and I’m all about the fun. I’m so excited that I’m in a tribe full of Villains. These are my people. I think Villains have the upper hand because we are expecting people to blindside us and lie to us. Not like those naive little Heroes. Like lambs at a slaughter,” Shonee explains.
With her now playing for the Heroes, we wonder who she’ll cross to get what she wants.
