This is it, people! This is not a drill.
We finally know when Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn will premiere and we are just sweating in anticipation.
For weeks, Network Ten has been getting us excited with their tantalising promos for the notoriously tough reality competition, giving us snippets of information about each of the players.
We know we have Dani, a prison guard at a maximum-security men’s prison who declares she will not be manipulated, while political powerhouse George seems intent on making manipulation the name of his game.
We also have best-selling author, Wai Chim, who is already our personal favourite because she wrote a book called The Surprising Power of a Good Dumpling. With philosophies like that, she is already a winner to us – not to mention very, very wise.
And let’s not forget Felicity ‘Flick’ Palmateer — a big wave surfer who lives by the mantra “The only opportunity you have to be brave is when you’re scared,” and Gavin Wanganeen, an AFL legend and member of the Brawn tribe. Both Palmateer and Wanganeen share a passion for art, so perhaps that creativity can pave the way for some creative gameplay.
As for where the competition will take place, earlier this year, it was announced that due to COVID, the show wouldn’t return to the beautiful, tropical paradise of Fiji, and instead, would be shot in our own backyard: Queensland.
True Survivor-heads will know that this isn’t the first (or even second!) time Australia has been the setting for the reality series, but this season was filmed in Cloncurry, Queensland, which is about a nine-and-a-half hour drive from where Survivor: The Australian Outback was filmed.
As for the climate that our players will be up against, the show has mostly been filming through autumn, so the days have all been a minimum of 31 degrees or above, and when you consider Queensland’s humidity and the fact that they’d be doing challenges in the blazing sun? Yikes!
Of course, it’s every player for themselves in this competition – especially when there is $500,000 on the line, so we cannot wait to see how it all plays out.
All of these elements combined are sure to make this season of Australian Survivor utterly unmissable, so grab a marker and circle the following date on your calendar!
Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn premieres on Sunday, July 18 at 7.30pm, only on 10 and 10 Play On Demand.
