Some of the world’s most well-known monuments are arches, and they’re a recurring doorway shape in many a home, so it’s no wonder we’re embracing the familiar shape in our home décor, too.
“The rounded edges of an arch bring a gentle softness to any space,” says Kowsh Rawson, creative director to Alokaia and owner of Kiko Design. “The absence of harsh lines work to offset any you find from furniture, walls and appliances.”
Rowson says that while her preferred way of adding arch home décor to her own space is through candles, vases and ornaments, you can also look to include mirrors, paintings and sculptures – though, not all at once.
“Less is more,” she says. “Never bombard a space with too many similar compositions. Lean into a theme, taking care not to overuse a shape to the point of redundancy. Let that stand-alone, arched piece speak for itself.”
