Aldi is focused on helping your home become a more eco-friendly place with its latest Special Buys drop.
On Wednesday, June 17 and Saturday, June 20, the budget supermarket will flood its shelves with a huge range of environmentally conscious products to help you reduce single-use plastics, harmful chemicals, and live a more sustainable life at home.
The first drop, coming mid-week, will bring a collection of organic basics for both your body ā with organic cotton underwear, clothing and pyjamas, starting from $5.99 ā and your home.
We’re particularly excited for the organic cotton pillows and quilt with Repreve fibre filling made from 100% recycled materials, including plastic bottles.
The organic sleep range is beneficial to both you and the environment. Aldi says its bedding uses organic cotton “produced in an organic agriculture environment that prohibits the use of agrochemicals, artificial fertilisers, pesticides and genetically modified organisms”.
This means the environment is protected in the process by reducing chemical run-off and residues in water and soil, while also eliminating skin exposure to residual insecticides and agrochemicals.
There’s also a range of organic cotton bath towels, hand towels and bathmats in five beautiful colours to suit any home style, starting from just $4.99.
The Wednesday drop also features a huge range of eco-friendly cleaning products, including both the green solutions for the toilet, laundry, kitchen and floor, and psychical tools to scrub and rid your home of dirt, dust and grime build-up on a small and large scale.
There are coconut fibre sponges ($2.99 for four), coconut scourers ($4.99 for four), assorted bamboo cleaning brushes ($2.79), bamboo indoor broom ($9.99) and a bamboo floor mop ($14.99).
The Saturday drop brings a range of homewares for your kitchen designed to help you lead a more sustainable life and reduce plastics in your home, and on the go.
Our favourite deals include the Huskee reusable cup made from recycled coffee husks. Usually around $18 at other retailers, the cup at Aldi costs just $9.99.
Perhaps our favourite item in the entire Special Buys drop is the benchtop composter. Available in black and white, the 5L container comes with filters to control odour and allows you to easily collect food scraps like vegetable waste, eggshells, coffee grounds and teabags to then donate to a composter or worm farm in your area.
You can find out more about how best to compost in all home types with our guide to composting.
Other items we’re definitely nabbing include the seven-piece reusable cutlery set ($6.99), beeswax wraps set ($9.99), stainless steel lunchbox ($7.99), and reusable storage accessories ($3.99), designed to replace plastic bags and cling film.
