Hey, do you like saving money? Yes? Great! Do you also live in Victoria? If so, then you’re in for a real treat. If not, prepare to get your heart broken because the Victorian Government’s $250 Power Saving Bonus hits off tomorrow.
Yup, that’s right, Victoria has a Power Saving Bonus scheme. Moreover, all you have to do to get this saving is have a recent residential electricity bill, be the account holder of said bill, and hit up Victorian Energy Compare’s website. If you’re curious, Victorian Energy Compare is an independent resource that sets energy deals side by side to try to find the best one for your wallet.
Moreover, this site might be handy even when this scheme ends on June 30, 2023. According to the Victorian Government, 7/10 of its users can save their money by swapping out their old energy contracts. The typical saving a household might be able to snag is $330 each year.

This Power Saving Bonus also comes after NSW and Victoria’s groundbreaking new education program announcement. You can learn more about that here: A Breakdown of NSW and Victoria’s New Education Programs
But let’s dive into a few more details regarding the fresh energy dealio that’s dropped. “This is a great opportunity for Victorians to save money, ease the cost of living, and cut their energy bills,” said Premier Daniel Andrews.
He also stated that “Big power companies rely on people not having the time, information or knowledge to save money. But we know better deals are out there – and we’re helping Victorian families find them.”
If you’re worried that there’s a limit or dollar-cap on this deal, then be fearful no more. As Andrews tweeted out after the original announcement was made, “No need to all rush at once and break the internet. There’s no limit on how many payments are available.”
This scheme couldn’t have come at a better time. After all, we’re currently going through an energy crisis, rental crisis, and a cost of living crisis, just to name a few of the ways that the country’s up in flames. Even with the minimum wage being raised, it’s still really tough for a lot of Australian families. Hopefully, this program will help those that need help the most.
