Whether you’re a diehard fan of sports or not, there is no denying the cultural impact certain teams, players and events have had over the years. From athletes using their platform to speak out against issues of injustice to facilitating important conversations around mental health… or simply just providing entertainment for millions of people, the sporting world offers plenty of intrigue.

In a new ten-part series from Succession producer Adam McKay, the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers — one of sports’ most revered and dominant dynasties — is explored, shedding light on a team that defined an era, both on and off the court.

Titled Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, the series was promoted during the 2022 Super Bowl and now BINGE has released the first trailer for the show, unveiling the full extent of its all-star cast.

Winning Time features John C. Reilly as Jerry Buss, Quincy Isaiah as Magic Johnson, Jason Clarke as Jerry West, Adrien Brody as Pat Riley, DeVaughn Nixon as Norm Nixon, Solomon Hughes as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Gaby Hoffmann as Claire Rothman, Tracy Letts as Jack McKinney, Jason Segel as Paul Westhead and Julianne Nicholson as Cranny McKinney, just to name a few. The legendary Sally Field also stars as Jessie Buss.

The series is based on the book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s by Jeff Pearlman and will take viewers into the high-octane world of professional basketball during a time that was both intoxicating and tumultuous.

In the trailer, we get a rundown of how Jerry Buss acquired the team and his vision for a  legacy that blurred the lines between sports and showbiz, along with some glimpses of Magic Johnson’s family and his addition to the team. Oh and also, the costumes and soundtrack look amazing so there is yet another reason to watch.

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, will premiere on BINGE on March 7, with new episodes dropping every Monday.
