7 Ways to Nail Going to the Beach This Summer

Summer is coming in hot and fast. After months of lockdowns, this summer is going to be one of the biggest beach-side summers Australians have had on record. When going to the beach though, you need to make sure you’re sorted at every angle.

Heading to the beach unprepared is a no-go zone, so you need to make sure you’ve covered the food, the right spot, the games, the swimming apparatus — there’s a whole lot to consider. But we can help. Read on to find out everything you’re going to need at the beach this summer and make it a memorable one.

Start With Mangoes

Mangoes are well and truly summer in a well-rounded snack. Every good trip to the beach starts with a juicy mango. Mangoes are in season right now, and plentiful. Just grab a few before, or on the way to the beach, and you’ve got yourself the perfect snack all day long while enjoying the sun. They also go pretty mean on the BBQ if you happen to be setting up camp nearby a public BBQ.

Gather the Right Crew

You’ve most likely got the crew in mind when you’ve planned your beach day, we recommend strategically choosing though; it’s integral to making the most of it. If you’ve got a friend who has a cooler, a portable speaker, or a giant inflatable beach floaty, you must make sure they’re invited.

Pick the Right Spot

Picking the right spot at the beach is key to enjoying your day. Too long in the sun and you’ll be hunting for the keys and a way home, so make sure your spot is likely to get some shade throughout the day. Of course, any spot works well if you’ve got the right equipment, but it doesn’t hurt to lay your towels out in a quieter part of the beach. Avoid setting up shop near a thoroughfare at all costs.

Get the Equipment Right

If your choice of beach is usually pretty busy, or it doesn’t have any shade at all, you’re going to need to invest in some shelter. A beach umbrella or tent is a surefire way to make sure you can spend most of the day on the sand. If you want to take it up a notch, invest in a stylish beach umbrella that not only look great but will keep the hot afternoon sun off your back.

Make Sure the Snacks Are On Point

As mentioned, mangoes are integral to starting your beach day off right, but you’re going to need a few other morsels to eat in between. A charcuterie board might sound like a good idea, but if the temperature is above 20°C, that meat and cheese combination is going to be sub-optimal after a while in the sun. Stick to fresh fruit, chips, biscuits, lollies, and everything in between that pairs perfectly with warm weather.

Make Sure the Drinks Are Ice Cold

Bring a cooler. The bigger the better. A stop by the servo on the way to the beach to grab some ice is an absolute necessity. A long, hot sweaty and sandy day at the beach is not complete without plunging those hands into the icy cold and lifting out a big can of complete refreshment. The perfect preparation for a massive afternoon by the waves.

Make the Games Epic

A solid morning of sunning yourself can only lead to one thing, game time. With games like Finska, Kubb, Quoits, and many more at your fingertips, you’re going to be having a sensational time whichever way it goes. Take the fun up a notch by investing in your very own beach volleyball net, let the games begin.
