Now that we can travel abroad once more, a little luxury vacation could be just what the doctor ordered.
To that end, it does not get much more luxurious than a stay at Villa Balbiano — the incredible Italian palazzo that features in the upcoming high fashion film House of Gucci, as the site of Gucci family patriarch, Aldo Gucci’s, home.
House of Gucci, of course, stars Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani — the woman who would have her husband Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) killed to ascend to the throne of high fashion in the Gucci family.
As one of the largest private residences on Lake Como, Villa Balbiano features six lavish suites and extravagant, lush gardens, which was distinguished by the British Society of Garden Designers.
According to the property’s listing on Airbnb, the grand residence once belonged to the famous Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, who built it at the end of the 16th century and used it as his main abode. A century later, it was enlarged and embellished by Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini who used the Villa to “host a gallant and frivolous society where festivals, banquets and dances followed one another relentlessly.”

Inside this spectacular home, you will find carefully curated fine arts and antiques from across the centuries, all sourced by prestige auction houses Sotheby’s and Christie’s. Meanwhile, stunning 17th-century frescoes painted by the Recchi brothers and Agostino Silva still decorate the walls, untouched by time. And, of course, Villa Balbiano looks out over the jaw-dropping vista of Lake Como so you can gaze out and plot your partner’s murder in style.
The host of this amazing property is offering a special, one-night-only stay, available on Airbnb on March 30, 2022, for one guest and a plus one to spend a night in the master suite, with access to Villa Balbiano’s lavish amenities including the first four floors of the home, the outdoor swimming pool, private pier and boathouse.
The listing costs AUD $1560.26 (€1000 Euros) for the night. Bookings for this one-night stay open on Tuesday, December 7 at 4am AEDT. This offer is not part of a competition but, as you can imagine, the competition to be the first to book will be fierce.
For more information on the listing, head to Villa Balbiano’s official Airbnb listing.
House of Gucci will be showing in HOYTS Cinemas from January 1, 2022.
