It sounds too good to be true — like something out of an incredible dream you curse your alarm for waking you up from — but right now you have a real-life chance to spend a sunny afternoon drinking Aperol spritz with George and Amal Clooney at their villa on Lake Como in Italy.
The actor has teamed up with fundraising platform Omaze to give away an all-expenses-paid trip to visit the couple at their luxurious home and share in a delicious lunch. Naturally, our minds landed immediately on the COVID restrictions and whether something like this could even be possible, but the offer will stay on the table until it’s absolutely safe to travel once more.
“As soon as this pandemic is over, I want you to come celebrate with Amal and me at our house in Lake Como,” Clooney said in a video for the campaign. “I’m serious, to support my foundation, we’re going to fly you and a friend out to Italy.”
The giveaway requires no donation or payment to enter, however, a donation to The Clooney Foundation for Justice will ensure a few extra entries. US $10 will score you an extra 100 entries, US $25 will give you 250 entries, US $50 will get you 1,000 and US $100 will award you with 2,000 entries. We like those odds. And it’s a great cause too.
The Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ) advocates for justice through accountability for human rights abuses around the world. CFJ fights for the rights of individuals unfairly targeted by oppressive governments through the courts, and works to expose the corruption that fuels grave human rights violations.
The foundation also advances justice for marginalised and vulnerable communities targeted by hate, displaced children deprived of opportunities to learn, and refugees seeking to rebuild their lives abroad.
The complete prize comes by the way of return flights to Lake Como, Italy and accommodation at a four-star hotel for you and a plus one. Lunch with George and Amal at their home will take place on one of the days, and yes, you’ll have the option to take a selfie with the two.
“We’re going to put you up at one of our favourite hotels and have you over to our place for a little get-together,” George said. That’s the bare minimum, but there’s nothing to say your interaction with the couple will end there. You may even forge a lasting friendship. Who knows, lunch at The Clooneys could become a regular thing for you.
