We’ve all been there. You’re running late to the film of the year. The advertisements are already playing. It’s dark and you can’t see a free seat in the house over the sea of people.
You look over to the corner, at the very front of the cinema. There’s one seat waiting for you. It’s that one seat where you have to tilt your head all the way back and cock it to the side, just to get some semblance of what is going on. You sigh, wishing that you’d arrived earlier and beginning to imagine — if only there was a cinema where there are no bad seats in the house…
Oma Cinema in Paris is redefining the cinema experience, with a new vertical cinema “where every seat in the house is the best seat in the house”.
The current cinema model, which has been effectively used for more than 50 years, has seen some excellent changes over time (hello plush leather recliners at Hoyts), however, this new theatre is set to be “intimate, spectacular and immersive”.
In an “unforgettable experience”, the original configuration of the room has been designed to offer viewers an out of this world audio and visual experience, by projecting an image free of distortion.
The complex even allows for customisation for private parties, where you can choose the size of each platform and the number of levels your cinema holds.
Architect Pierre Chican is behind the innovative theatre and has specialised in the realisation of cultural arenas for more than two decades.
Chican designed two of the most successful cinemas in Europe, UGC Les Halles and UGC Bercy and also the first IMAX laser cinema in France.
It’s a new world out there, and a new era for cinema.
