Love This for Us: You Can Now Shop at Myer With Virgin FF Points

The latest in Virgin’s Velocity partnership spree? As of September 13, it’s allowing its frequent flyers to use their points to pay in part or full for over 200,000 products on Myer online. Previously, Velocity members could only redeem their points for Myer gift cards.

In the latest 18 months, Velocity has partnered with 7-Eleven, Medibank, United Airlines and Qatar Airways, and the company has said that on average, one in every Australian household holds a Velocity Frequent Flyer membership.

“As Australians face rising inflation, we know that value is more important than ever and our members will easily find impressive, inspirational ways to use their Points online at Myer to stretch their dollar further,” says Velocity Frequent Flyer chief executive Nick Rohrlach.

To use Velocity Points online at Myer, simply select Velocity Points from the payment dropdown at checkout – either full Points, or Points plus Pay.

Qantas, for its part, has also been upping its points partners. Back in August, it announced Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to earn and use points at more than 40 restaurants across Australia, as part of a partnership with Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group.

Frequent flyers can use their points to pay the bill either in full, or a portion of it. Or, for members who’d rather grow their points balance, they can earn three points per dollar spent at premium venues, like 6Head, Hunter & Barrel and The Meat & Wine Co. and two points per dollar spent at more casual venues, like Ribs & Burgers and Italian Street Kitchen.

“Food and wine consistently rank amongst the top interests for our members, along with travel, and we’ve been looking at how we can expand their opportunities to be rewarded while dining out,” said Qantas Loyalty CEO Olivia Wirth at the time.

“The ability to earn points towards their next dream trip while enjoying a meal in a restaurant will be a welcome addition for frequent flyers. As will treating themselves to a dining experience using their Qantas Points.”
