Netflix has finally revealed the trailer for Unsolved Mysteries: Volume 2 and for crime buffs and fans of the series, the new clip couldn’t come soon enough.
Premiering worldwide on October 19, the second season will feature six new cases including tsunami ghosts, stolen children, a lady in the lake, the Washington Insider Murder, a death in Oslo and also someone on death row.
While we don’t know exactly what the cases are as yet, the trailer depicts some deeply disturbing and chilling content.
In an interview with Variety, executive producer Terry Dunn Meurer said that the second batch of stories will cover “two more international cases [not based in the US] and an unusual story pertaining to ghosts”. The site also said that the series will likely keep the same formula of interviews and case analysis.
One of the most incredible aspects of the series is that it reaches a wide net of people who have begun to come forward with leads on the cold cases.
Last season, the series covered the case of Lena Chapin, a woman who went missing three years after she confessed to helping her mother Sandy Klemp dispose of her husband, Gary McCullough in 1999.
Due to the series being so interactive, with previously unreleased clips uploaded to a Google Drive for audiences to dive into, new evidence proved a fan theory that the story wasn’t as rock-solid as once believed.
As a result of the series, producers obtained over 20 credible tips within 24 hours of the series debuting on Netflix surrounding the disappearance of Chapin and McCullogh.
“We pass [the information] on to the appropriate authorities. We’re hoping there’s a lot of people who still haven’t watched and maybe this weekend they’ll sit down and binge the episodes and we’ll get more leads,” co-producer Terry Dunn Meurer told USA Today.
