‘Shaun of the Dead’ Creators Team Up for New Series ‘The Truth Seekers’

The Truth Seekers

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are back in a new adventure series and not a moment too soon.

Truth Seekers is a supernatural comedy-drama series about a team of part-time paranormal investigators who team up to uncover and film ghost sightings across the UK, sharing their adventures on an online channel for all to see.

Premiering on Amazon Prime on October 30, the series follows Gus (Frost) and Dave (Pegg), two part-time paranormal investigators who track and film their ghostly findings as they stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers and abandoned hospitals with their array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos.

As the show goes on, their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, more terrifying and even deadly, as they begin to uncover a conspiracy that could bring about Armageddon for the entire human race.

From the minds that gave us Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Sick Note and Paul, Truth Seekers is written by Pegg, Frost, Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz.

Back in August 2017, Pegg told Inverse that he and Frost were working on something “a bit special”, then when Amazon picked up the show last August, he called the process a “joyride”.

“Simon, Miles and I, and everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making Truth Seekers with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video. It’s been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon’s commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn’t be collaborating with a bigger or better team,” he said in a statement.

Other cast members include Samson Kayo (Dolittle) as Elton, Malcolm McDowell (Mozart in the Jungle) as Richard, Emma D’Arcy (Misbehaviour) as Astrid, Susan Wokoma (Enola Holmes) as Helen, Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh) as Dr. Peter Toynbee, Morgana Robinson (The Windsors) as Janey, Kate Nash (GLOW) as Mary and Kevin Eldon (Hot Fuzz) as Jack.

Truth Seekers premieres on Amazon Prime on October 30.
