Nothing is ever impossible for Tom Cruise.
The actor, producer and director is not only working with Elon Musk and Space X on a project with NASA to film a movie in orbit, but he has just acquired two state-of-the-art robots to patrol the set of Mission Impossible 7.
According to a source of The Sun: “Tom is so serious about making sure the shoot isn’t shut down that he’s splashed out on these robots as he can’t be everywhere to ensure people are behaving themselves.”
Cruise is clearly taking additional precautions and the robots are allegedly a direct result of knowing how “lucky” he is to be working.
“Staff on the film from top to bottom rely on this film going ahead. You don’t have to go far to see how just how much the pandemic has affected jobs,” The Sun added.
The robots are reportedly very sophisticated and “rather intimidating” and also administer on-the-spot COVID tests to staff.
“Yes, the rant that came out last month may have been a bit over the top, but he was right, and those who saw the story sympathised with him,” the story read.
The rant being referred to is the infamous December 2020 audio which heard the Mission Impossible actor shouting at crew members for apparently not observing social distancing measures on set.
The expletive-laden lecture includes Cruise threatening, “I don’t ever want to see it again, ever! And if you don’t do it, you’re fired, if I see you do it again, you’re f—ing gone. And if anyone in this crew does it – that’s it, and you too and you too … don’t you ever f—ing do it again.”
In the audio recording, which was released and obtained by The Sun, the actor, who is also a producer on the film, was thought to be reacting to seeing several crew members standing too close to each other near a monitor during production.
“That’s it! No apologies. You can tell it to the people that are losing their f—ing homes because our industry is shut down. It’s not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education,” he said.
