The Iconic Is Helping You Help Bushfire Victims with Goods Drop-Offs

bushfire-main

Australia is suffering through its worst bushfire crisis on record. There’s no need to repeat the horrifying numbers once more. We know it’s unprecedented. We know it’s bad. We know there’s more to come, given Australia is at the start of its summer season.

What is heartening, though, is the undying bravery of our firies as they fight to protect communities and wildlife and the generosity of donors both in Australia and all around the world who have selflessly given millions to organisations helping those in need.

But there is more work to be done, and bushfire-affected communities will need our help long after the flames have been extinguished. At this stage, the single most useful way you can help is by making a donation to one of the credible organisations in this list.

Another way to help communities in need is with the donations of goods, however, charities have been inundated with generous donations and are at capacity to manage storage and distribution.

At some point down the line, though, there will come a time when non-perishable and wildlife care items are required to help communities rebuild, and retailer The Iconic has kicked off a fantastic new initiative to help.

As the bushfire crisis continues, The Iconic will dedicate its 28,000sqm Fulfilment Centre to providing the storage of donated items for charities.

What’s more, they’ll be collecting these goods from people who wish to help, and will be opening two drop-off locations from Tuesday January 14 on selected days until the end of the month.

Goods dropped off must be new and sealed, and must be from the following lists.

For communities:
• Burn Supplies – Aloe Vera/bandages
• P2 Face Masks – Adults and Babies
• Eyedrops, Bandaids, nasal sprays
• Sunscreen
• Lip Balm
• Body wash/soap
• First Aid Kits
• Water
• Energy drinks – recommended 600ml
• Hand sanitiser
• Toilet paper
• Deodorant – non-aerosol
• Feminine hygiene products
• Hydrolyte

For wildlife:
• 100% cotton pillowcases
• Towels
• Knitted pouches
• Pouch linings

The two drop-off locations are as follows and will be open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 8.00am and 4.00pm.

We’re deeply saddened by the bushfires burning across our country and the devastating effect on communities (including some of our people), wildlife, our firefighters and the Australian landscape. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In recent days and weeks we have been working closely with our industry partners and relief organisations to find out ways we can provide the most meaningful immediate and long-term support to the communities affected. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These are the steps we're taking and how you can be involved. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you are in a position to, you may also donate directly to @nswrfs, @redcrossau, @wireswildliferescue, @cfavic and @givit_aus. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the coming days we will be sharing more on how we can continue to support those impacted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo: @helloemilie ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #australianbushfires #australiaisburning #bushfirescrisis
