The festive season can be an emotionally draining time. Add a fresh breakup into the equation and a there’s never been a better time to escape it all and set off on a holiday.
Thankfully, a UK-based holiday site is giving those experiencing heartbreak that very opportunity. Inspired by Christmas rom-com, The Holiday, Independent Cottages will send one broken-hearted holiday-maker to a remote cottage in The Cotswolds to experience a festive break much like the one taken by Cameron Diaz’s character in the film.
“Whether you’ve been dumped, ended a relationship that wasn’t working out, or realised you were lusting after someone who didn’t feel the same way, take a leaf out of Cameron Diaz’s book and mend your heart with a cottage stay in the glorious English countryside this winter,” the competition page reads.
The prize is comprised of a relaxing three-night stay in the charming Farthing Cottage. Inside, the traditional dwelling will be decorated to suit the festive time, and includes a cosy log-burning fire, four-poster bed, antique furniture and charming garden.
Unfortunately, Jude Law doesn’t come with the prize, but a bottle of bubbles and box of chocolates will be waiting for you upon arrival.
The cottage is a short walk away from the English market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, which boasts an array of excellent boutiques as well as English pubs. You may even spot the real Kate Winslet here — the actor lives in The Cotswolds.
