Stan has released the official trailer for the upcoming third instalment of drama series, The Girlfriend Experience, which will drop onto the platform on May 2.
The anthology, which saw season one debut in 2016, is based on Steven Soderbergh’s 2009 film The Girlfriend Experience which tells the story of a young attorney in training who leads a double life as a high-end sex worker.
It centres around the relationships between exclusive escorts and their clients, for whom they provide far more than just sex.
Now, a new season is coming out starring Julia Goldani (The Affair) in the title role as Iris and is set in the London tech scene.
Iris, a neuroscience major, begins to explore the transactional world of The Girlfriend Experience and soon learns that client sessions provide her with a compelling knowledge in the tech world.
Starring alongside Goldani is Oliver Masucci (When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit), Frank Dillane (Fear the Walking Dead), Daniel Betts (The Good Liar), Armin Karima (Black Mirror), Tobi Bamtefa (The Witcher) and Jemima Rooper (Kinky Boots).
News of the renewal came in July 2019, when it was announced by Starz that they had ordered another 10-episode season. The cable service announced the news during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour.
Season one followed the story of Christine Reade (Riley Keogh), a second-year law student who worked to establish herself as an intern at a law firm, however, after hearing about “transactional relationships” from a friend, her world starts to change.
Then, season two focused on two entirely new characters and their parallel lives in New Mexico and Washington. The instalment starred Anna Friel, Louisa Krause and Carmen Ejogo and explored the price of intimacy and its emotional consequences.
The brand new season of The Girlfriend Experience will premiere on – May 2 the same day as the U.S. – on Stan.
