Over the past seven seasons of The Bachelor Australia, fans have been privy to some of the longest-lasting celebrity love stories the country has ever seen.
A total of three (of seven) Bachelor couples (not including The Bachelorette) are still together — Sam and Snezana Wood, Matthew “Matty J” Johnson and Laura Byrne, and Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich — and three “Bachie babies” have been born — Marlie Mae Johnson, Willow Wendy Wood and Charlie Lane Wood — with one on the way for Heinrich and Robards.
The success of the Bachelor Australia franchise is the reason fans tune in each year, and 2020 proved to be no exception.
Here’s a recap of the series.

Who was the Bachelor?
Australia’s newest Bachelor for 2020 is Survivor All-Star, Locky Gilbert.
Having built a legion of female fans during his time on Australian Survivor, this successful CEO is putting it all on the line again, to dive right into the romantic experience of a lifetime.
At age 30, Gilbert is an experienced cave diver, base jumper, mountaineer and athlete from Western Australia — so safe to say the girl he’s looking for must love adventure.
“I really want to find love. I’m pretty content with my life at the moment,” Gilbert said in a statement. “I go on these crazy adventures, but I’d love someone to share the memories with.
“I’ve got best friends, but I want to find that one best friend that I can spend the rest of my life with. This is an amazing opportunity to hopefully find someone special at the end.”
Who won The Bachelor 2020?
On Thursday night, Locky Gilbert chose Irena Srbinovska during the finale of the Bachelor Australia.

Who was vying for Locky’s Heart?
There may have been a global pandemic, but that hasn’t stopped Australia’s newest Bachelor in his quest for love.
But no quest for love is complete without his leading ladies, and if you want his attention you best turn up in a tuxedo. A penguin one that is!

The First Trailer
According to Gilbert, “being in love is like the best feeling in the world”.
In the first released trailer for the upcoming season, the former Survivor All-Star is ready to dive headfirst into this new experience.
“I’ve done a lot of things in my life – jumping off mountains, jumping from buildings, scuba diving through shipwrecks – but being The Bachelor is the craziest thing I’ve ever done.
“I’m here to find love. I would love to get down on one knee at the end. I’m the kind of guy that would do it.”
How did COVID-19 impact The Bachelor filming
Despite the global coronavirus pandemic, the eighth season of The Bachelor is still in production. According to B&T back in March, Warner Bros. and Network 10 had to halt production of the popular series.
“Although we have been employing extra precautions on set for some time, it is no longer practical to continue with production,” Network Ten wrote in a statement.
“Our decision to halt production was made after considering all available options. We will resume production when it is safe to do so.”
On May 29, it was reported that production had resumed, however, producers decided to use Zoom for Gilbert’s dates.
According to Matt Acton from Hit 105’s Stav, Abby and Matt, a friend of his saw a “picnic rug, a girl on a laptop with a TV crew” outside his house.
“They’re filming, and she was on a date with The Bachelor,” Acton told his co-hosts. Like most “dates” on the popular series, this one was a little wild.
“This date, in classic Bachelor style, involved dress-up. Apparently all the girls had to wear onesies,” he said while adding that the woman had to perform a series of “doggy tricks” at Gilbert’s request.
According to Acton’s source, after filming ended, the bachelorette felt “humiliated”, blasting producers.
“When the laptop closes, she apparently spews and cuts sick at the producer, saying how embarrassing that was, and how humiliating [it was] that she had to be in a onesie!” he said.
Where was The Bachelor filmed?
If the series is being filmed in Sydney like previous seasons, it is most likely that it will be filmed at a mansion in Oxford Falls on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
According to Ten Daily when talking about the location last year, the “tranquil spot provides the perfect blend of nature bursting with wildlife, and is just a short way from magnificent ocean views”.
Was Osher Günsberg hosting?
Yes. Dah. The Bachelor wouldn’t be The Bachelor without him.
