Sydney’s historic Rocks precinct is set to become home to nine nights of prestige entertainment, thanks to Sydney Fringe Sideshow with its 100+ free and ticketed events.
Over the course of the programme, visitors will have the chance to enjoy a fantastic range of comedy, theatre, music, dance, immersive performance, projection and installation works across three main Sideshow venues on George Street: The Terraces, The Observer, The Old Coroner’s Court plus a secret location The Gallery.
Sideshow goers can walk from one venue to the other to discover curious and exciting acts, performances, and projections, traversing secret laneways, and iconic historic venues, with fun to be found around every corner.
The event is designed to celebrate Australia’s rich live performance culture, with
ticketed performances at Sydney Fringe Sideshow being held as small and intimate happenings.
If comedy is your drug of choice then The Terrace is the place for you as you can unwind with a drink at The Secret Bar before heading into one of over fifty shows, including performances from The Funniest Comedians You’ve Never Heard Of, Black Label Comedy, 2 Jokers and Hot Chick / Tired Mum among many, many others.
The Terrace will also play host to spoken word performances from The Lounge Room Confabulators and Nella.
If you’re craving a hit of live music, then make your way to The Observer Hotel, where you can catch intimate sets in a range of genres such as jazz, cabaret, indie-folk and pop. Included in the impressive lineup are artists such as Blues singer-songwriter Georgia Mooney and jazz artists Tina Harrod, Stu Hunter and Ella Haber.
Meanwhile, the ethereal Old Coroner’s Court will serve as Sideshow’s enigmatic hub for multi-disciplinary art and immersive projection and installation experiences.
A former morgue built in 1906, the heritage-listed building will have life breathed into it with HUE + CRY, a creative exploration of liminal space and history presented by Tortuga Studios.
