Fans of ‘Sex Education’ would be familiar with the home Otis Milburn, played by Asa Butterfield, lived in with his mum Jean Milburn, played by Gillian Anderson. The two lived in a Scandi-style, multi-level home, painted red and white, and planted on its own in the hills.
While previously, you could stay at the actual home that was used for exterior shots on the show, now, you can go a step further and own it. The home is for sale, listed at USD $1.8 million, which works out to roughly AUD $2.82 million.
Called The Chalet, the property is located in Symonds Yat, a village close to the Welsh border in England and about a three-hour drive from London. It’s next to the River Wye and surrounded by greenery.
“The fact that this property is so well known only adds to the appeal of what is an incredibly rare opportunity to own a spectacular home, with exceptional views of the River Wye in a beautiful, private, woodland setting,” James Toogood, Office Head at Knight Frank Bristol, the agency that holds the listing, told People.
The home was built in 1912, and features five bedrooms and three bathrooms spread across 288 square metres. In 2022, the home was completely renovated with a conservatory dining room in the same Norwegian style as the rest of the house.
The home has an island and wood-burning fireplace in its airy kitchen and a living room with another fireplace, as well as hardwood floors. Three of the bedrooms have direct balcony access, and a freestanding tub sits in one of the bathrooms. On the property, you’ll also find a Swedish hot bath and a stone pizza oven.
It’s unclear if the home will stay a retreat that’s open for the public to book once it’s sold, or if it’ll become a private residence.
“Steps lead down to a flat garden ideal for children and dogs,” writes the Chalet’s site. “A play frame and Summer House with secret cinema and dartboard will help to keep everyone entertained.
“Further steps lead down to the river — it’s a minute’s walk to the renowned Saracen’s Head pub, Royal Lodge Hotel, Wyedean Canoe Hire and access to local footpaths and cycle trails. The woodland offers acres of private space where you can picnic or cook up a feast in the fire pit.”
In July, the creator of ‘Sex Education’, Laurie Nunn, shared that season four of the show would be coming to Netflix in September, but that it would be the final instalment of it.
“This was not an easy decision to make, but as the themes and stories of the new season crystallised, it became clear that this was the right time to graduate,” Nunn wrote.
“We are incredibly proud of ‘Sex Education’ and feel indebted to our brilliant writers, cast and crew who put so much heart into making every episode. They have worked tirelessly to bring you this final season, and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
