The Screen Actors Guild Awards are over for another year but not without a few surprises.

Foreign Film Parasite took home the top award of the evening for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, beating out the popular Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood.

In the film categories, Australian actor’s Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie were both up for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Bombshell, however, both lost out to Laura Dern — who won both the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award in the same category — proving she is now the clear Oscar contender for her turn as Nora Fanshaw in Marriage Story.

The Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role was taken home by Brad Pitt from Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood.

His speech deserved an honourable mention particularly when he quipped: “I have to add this to my Tinder profile” and “it was a big stretch” to play a character about “a guy who gets high, takes his shirt off and doesn’t get along with his wife.” Ha!

Renée Zellweger won Oustanding Performance by a Female Actor in Leading Role for her stunning portrayal as Judy Garland in Judy, while Joaquin Phoenix took home the Oustanding Performance by a Male Actor in Leading Role for Joker. Two more Oscar contenders.

In the television categories, Australian actor Russell Crowe lost out to Sam Rockwell (Fosse/Verdon) for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for his role as Roger Ailes in The Loudest Voice while Michelle Williams was once again victorious (following her Golden Globes win) for her portrayal as Gwen Verdon in Fosse/Verdon.

The Crown was the big winner for television, being awarded Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Following the tradition of both the Emmy’s and the Oscars, the 2020 SAG awards did not have a host and followed the same idea of a plant-based menu we saw at both the Critics’ Choice and the Golden Globes.

So, as we inch closer to the Academy Awards, see below for the full list of winners at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
