Get your best excited faces at the ready, because RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under will be touring live on stage later this year.
That’s right, the Queens that you know and love from the Aussie version of the hit reality series are jumping out of our screens and onto the stage in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Canberra, treating audiences to an evening of hilarity, charisma and uniqueness as never seen before.
According to a press statement, the event promises to be “an evening of eleganza extravaganza” and will see all ten Australian and Kiwi queens perform live on stage at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on September 18, Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on September 25, Perth’s Crown Theatre on September 23, Brisbane’s QPAC on September 21 and Canberra’s Canberra Theatre on September 28.
The show is being presented by Live Nation, World of Wonder and Voss Events and is sure to the perfect night out for fans of the local series, and those brand new to it.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under is currently streaming on Stan and is hosted by RuPaul himself, and accompanied by fellow drag icon Michelle Visage with Australian comedian Rhys Nicholson. Guest judges include director Taikia Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok) along with Australian music legends and worldwide gay icons, Kylie and Dannii Minogue. The series will crown its winner on June 19.
RuPaul’s Drag Race, a show that celebrated the art of drag, first debuted in 2009 and has since shattered all expectations by becoming a major influence in mainstream pop culture. The show has launched the careers of over 150+ drag queens around the world, inspired top fashion designers, consistently trended #1 on Twitter, and has welcomed superstar guests such as Lady Gaga, Lizzo, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj and many more. The international version has won a staggering 19 Primetime Emmy Awards since it began.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under: Live on Stage will be on sale to the general public from 1 pm on Monday, May 24.
