Use Points to Shop Home, Fashion and Tech on Qantas’ New Marketplace

This month, Qantas unveiled a new online shopping experience that’ll let Frequent Flyers earn and use their points on more than 20,000 products from over 900 brands. Called Qantas Marketplace, the new platform is a replacement for the Qantas Rewards store.

Participating brands include Country Road, Apple and Dyson, and products are in the fashion, beauty, home, appliances and tech categories. The platform will also be home to exclusive collaborations and designs between Qantas and some of the country’s top brands, including a custom dress in Qantas’ signature red created by Michael Lo Sordo.

“Our Frequent Flyers already earn more points on the ground than they do through travel,” says Qantas Loyalty CEO Olivia Wirth. “We know our members are always looking for more value and ways to boost their points balance, so we’ve increased the points earn rate on the platform too.”

Frequent Flyers will be able to earn at least three Qantas Points per dollar spent when paying for products up-front. That’s up from two points earned with Qantas Rewards.

From now until the end of March 2023, you’ll earn 2,000 bonus Qantas Points when you spend $150 cash, 5,000 bonus points when you spend $300 cash and 10,000 bonus points when you spend $500. The marketplace will also offer limited-time deals, like 25% off points on selected GHD products, 20% off points on selected Sheridan and 25-30% off points on selected Ray-Ban.

And when it’s time to use your Qantas Points to pay for products, you’ll be able to use solely Points or a combination of Points and pay.

While Qantas Marketplace replaces Qantas Rewards, Qantas Shopping is still around. It lists all the online shopping partners that let Qantas Frequent Flyers earn points when they shop. It’s essentially a portal that takes you directly to the brand’s site.

Qantas regularly updates the different ways Frequent Flyers can earn and use points. In August last year, it announced that Frequent Flyers would be able to earn and use points at more than 40 restaurants around the country, as part of a partnership with Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group.

Frequent flyers can use their points to pay the bill either in full or a portion of it. Or, for members who’d rather grow their points balance, they can earn three points per dollar spent at premium venues, like 6Head, Hunter & Barrel and The Meat & Wine Co. and two points per dollar spent at more casual venues, like Ribs & Burgers and Italian Street Kitchen. Note that not all Seagrass venues have the deal — Five Guys and Alma’s are among those not part of it.

Members can pay with points by scanning their physical or digital Frequent Flyer Card and then entering their unique Reward Code. Members who want to earn points can also do so by scanning their Frequent Flyer Card.
