Do Good From Home: Products to Shop With 100% Profits Going to Charity

Nagnata

With millions of Australians stuck at home in lockdown, many of us are turning to online shopping to keep us entertained.

There’s the fun of browsing for products. The sense of satisfaction when you discover something that’ll help a solve a problem. Or when you score a bargain. Or find that exact thing you’ve been looking for. And then there’s the sense of thrill when you hit ‘buy now’ and wait for it to arrive in the mail.

But then what? While I won’t get too existential or sustainability-preaching here, I will say that when online shopping, sometimes it is worth thinking about whether or not you really need what you’re buying, as well as who is benefitting from your purchase.

Which is why I thought it worth rounding up some items to shop during lockdown — or, if you’re living restriction-free, just generally — that support charities. From tees that help fund ovarian cancer research, to a brooch that helps koalas affected by the 2019/20 bushfires, these are the buys that’ll make you feel good about shelling out.

Thankyou The Limited Edition Hand Wash, $7.50

Thankyou has dropped a new hand wash in botanical basil and spice, available at Coles, Big W and Chemist Warehouse. The brand’s aim is to get you thinking about how your dreams matter and that you have an irreplaceable part to play in changing the world for good every time you wash your hands.

Witchery OCRF White Shirt, $129.95

Fashion and charity collide with Witchery’s White Shirt, designed by Toni Maticevski, with 100% of its proceeds going to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. The shirt is made of crisp cotton and has padded shoulders and a feature fold along the shoulder and sleeves.

Tiffany & Co. Koala charm and brooch, $925-$24,800

If you’ve ever wondered how you can help some of the animals affected by the 2019/20 Australian bushfires, now’s your chance. Tiffany & Co. has localised their Save The Wild collection and released a Koala charm and brooch. All proceeds from the pieces will go towards supporting conservation actions for koalas in the wild.

Camilla and Marc Unisex Ovarian Cancer Power Tee, $140

Another fashion item supporting research into ovarian cancer, this ‘Power & Solidarity’ tee hits close to home for brother-sister duo Camilla and Marc. The two lost their mother to the cancer when they were just 11 and 13. The white shirt has a crew neckline, relaxed fit and is made from luxe mercerised cotton.

Share The Base LB Cream, $42

Lara Worthington’s come a long away since her modelling days. Her cosmetics company Share The Base donates 100% of its net proceeds to three carefully selected Australian charity partners. The LB Cream comes in fair, beige, caramel, honey or tan. And you can also choose which of Worthington’s three chosen charities you’d like your purchase to support.

Poho Flowers’ Plants With Purpose, $50

Sure, you could send a friend or colleague flowers. But why not send them something that’ll last longer? Poho Flowers in Sydney’s Potts Point is offering a mystery plant or potted selection that you can send your social circle (within Sydney), with all profits going to Lifeline. If you didn’t know, the hotline is available 24 hours a day for anyone in Australia who longs to be heard to call and be listened to without judgement.

Nagnata Children’s Ground Tee, $140

While Nagnata was originally founded to be a more sustainable business in the fashion industry, the company continued its do-good-ness by teaming up with not-for-profit Children’s Ground to release an ART + Activism tee. Proceeds from the tee will support First Nations-led education and the arts in the remote community of Marlkawo in West Arnhem Land.
