Phoebe Waller-Bridge Is Writing a New TV Series, So the World’s Not All Bad

Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge is officially creating a new series that will be available on Amazon Prime Video.

The brilliant writer, who is also the executive producer of hit series Killing Eve, signed a sizable overall deal with Amazon Studios back in 2019, not long after Fleabag picked up six Emmys including for best comedy series and acting and writing honours for Waller-Bridge.

As of this time, we don’t know what the plot of the series will be, or even the genre, but it’s safe to say we are keen to see what Waller-Bridge’s intriguing mind throws at us next. Production on the series is scheduled to begin later in the year.

The British writer, producer and performer has been in demand since the success of Fleabag, which ran for just two seasons between 2016 and 2019. The series was adapted from Waller-Bridge’s one-woman show and explores the themes of female relationships, mental health, self-worth, family and loss.

Since the series wrapped (it was always intended to be a two-season run although fans would surely have lapped up more), Waller-Bridge has co-written the script for the James Bond film No Time to Die, acted opposite Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5 and executive produced and starred in HBO’s comedy Run.

Prior to that, she created and starred in the series Crashing which follows the lives of six twenty-somethings living together as property guardians in a disused hospital and the ways in which their relationships intersect and overlap. The series is currently available to stream on Netflix.

Meanwhile, Killing Eve is currently in its fourth and final season, with the series having won a Peabody Award and the British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series over the course of its run. Additionally, stars Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer have won multiple Best Actress awards for their roles as Eve and Villanelle respectively.
