Travelling with pets is on the rise, with a whopping two million Australian households planning to holiday or having already holidayed with their pet this year, according to recent Stayz data.
In fact, the accommodation rental platform reports that one in 10 searches were for pet-friendly accommodation. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of options, with more and more hotels, holiday homes and camping and caravan parks catering for stays with pooches and felines.

There’s no additional charge, no deposit required and no size or weight limit for pets staying at Kimpton Margot Sydney. Just let staff know you’re bringing a pet ahead of time and you’ll get pet amenities in your room, a Spotify pet playlist and a concierge’s list of pet-friendly restaurants in the area.
Langham Sydney
With Langham Sydney’s Pampered Pets Staycation, pets are the star of the show. They’ll get an afternoon tea welcome amenity and a gift bag, as well as breakfast the following morning in bed (don’t worry – you’ll get serve, too). The $120 pet fee is always waived for the first pet.
Crystalbrook Albion
Crystalbrook Albion in Surry Hills welcomes cats and dogs to its ground-floor rooms, conveniently equipped with hardwood floors and direct access outside. Each pet gets its own soft bed and, of course, food and water are also provided. Bringing one or several pets will set you back $95 per room.

QT Melbourne
All QT hotels in Australia and New Zealand allow pets – they just have to be under 20kgs and do require a $150 cleaning fee. Pet-friendly rooms come with a pet-specific mini bar, as well as an in-room dogs’ menu. At some properties, the hotel’s Director of Chaos is up for walking your furry friend, while a pupQ grooming service is available for washing.
Ovolo Laneways
Available at all Ovolos, the V.I.Pooch package includes a doggy bed, a mat where your pooch can eat and drink mess-free and a doggy bag with toys and treats. Dog-friendly staff are also on hand to help our where needed. The package is an extra $80 charge.

Sage Hotel James Street
Rooms equipped for dogs up to 18kgs are now available at Sage Hotel on James Street in Brisbane. They’re on the ground floor so allow for access to their own courtyard – handy for your pooch to use when you just feel like lounging. Note that there’s a charge of $50 per dog, which includes a carpet and soft furnishing cleaning after you leave.
