The Par Femme platform is designed for womxn “looking for a fun, beautiful, safe and accessible environment to explore their sexuality”. Ever prioritising feminine empowerment, the site — part content and part e-commerce — encourages women to take control and feel confident in their own skin.
A big part of that, for Par Femme, is pleasure and sexual freedom. Par Femme have long stocked pleasure products and sex toys designed for women and people with vulvas, but the brand has recently released their own: the MMM Rabbit Vibrator and the OOH G-Spot Vibrator.
Par Femme founder Monica Nakata says these two new products are a celebration of pleasure and sexual discovery. Luxurious in their design, and with an understated colour palette of pale pink and an elegant navy, the sex toys retail at an inclusive and affordable price point (the OOH is $129 and the MMM is $139).
The products differ from each other in a few ways. The Par Femme MMM Rabbit Vibrator is a nine-setting, dual simulator that simultaneously touches upon erogenous zones internally and externally “for intense orgasms that’ll make you go ‘mmm…'”.
The Par Femme OOH G-Spot Vibrator is designed for exploration and more specifically, internal orgasms, though the toy can really be used anywhere — even underwater (it’s waterproof!). Par Femme says “the toy can be used internally and externally and features nine vibration modes that’ll each make you go ‘ooh…'”.
So now we know the inspiration behind the names. “We knew we wanted to give our toys names that were fun and unpretentious and pulled you directly into the moment, so we chose ‘OOH’ and ‘MMM’. These names just feel effortless and playful, which is how masturbation should be,” founder Nakata tells TheLatch—.
The aesthetic of the sex toys was another aspect important to Nakata. The understated and classy silhouettes were purposefully chosen to stand against outdated historical depictions of pleasure products.
“Historically, sex toys have been made and marketed from a male perspective. In terms of design, most of the sex toys that have dominated the market since the ’80s aren’t anything you would design for yourself, and sex toy retailers, which used to be the only place you could buy a sex toy, weren’t very inviting for a lot of people.
“But the reality is: everybody masturbates. Sex toys should be accessible to everyone. With Par Femme, we are working to destigmatise sex toys and pleasure in general, and go beyond what sex toys have been understood as in the past. We want to create space where people — primarily women — come for intelligent content and products that are fun, safe and appealing. This is why our toys are uncomplicated and chic, but still get the job done.”
One may wonder where to begin when it comes to designing the perfect sex toy. For Nakata, it was a group effort and required the input of more than a few experts in the field. “We have had the opportunity to work with and be mentored by industry experts who have years of experience and insight in the feminine health, hygiene and pleasure industry.
“We visited manufacturers and learnt about all the aspects of product development. It was really important that we educated ourselves and understood both the products and the market before we launched our own toys. In the end, we landed on minimalist designs made with body-safe silicone to feel as natural as possible while offering maximum power.
“We couldn’t be happier with the result and can’t wait for people to try them for themselves.”
