Pantone Colour Insitute has announced ‘Classic Blue’ as 2020’s Colour of the Year.
According to the colour authority, the royal shade was chosen to instill a soothing sensation in this anxiety-inducing climate and “highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era”.
The hue was chosen for the calming aura it embodies, as it is “imprinted in our psyches as a restful colour, Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquillity to the human spirit, offering refuge.
“Aiding concentration and bringing laser-like clarity, Classic Blue re-centres our thoughts,” a press release from the colour authority reads.
“A reflective blue tone, Classic Blue fosters resilience.”
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute, says: “We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on”.
