If you live in an area that gets cold in winter, you might’ve already discovered the magic of the Oodie.
If you’re not familiar with the name, it’s the brand basically synonymous with wearable blankets. Their versions feature cute prints like avocados and bread slices holding hands and koalas looking super sweet, and they’re made with sherpa fleece on the inside and flannel fleece on the outside.
“You’ll feel like you’re hugging 1,000 adorable pug puggies,” Oodie proudly claims on its site.

But Oodies aren’t cheap — you can usually expect to pay $109 a pop them. So, we’re all for wearable blankets like them that don’t come with the price tag. Kmart’s currently got some for $29, and though they do the trick of keeping your top half warm and toasty, they’re a lot thinner than the OG Oodies, and a lot less soft on your skin.
Enter Spotlight’s Oodie dupe, KOO Plain Hooded Blanket One Size. They’re much more similar to the actual Oodies, with the same materials – fleece on the inside, flannel fleece on the out. They also come with a kangaroo pouch to store things in like phone, snacks and even your laptop, as well as a hood to use for when it’s extra chilly indoors.
Usually $100, which is close to the Oodie price, it’s on sale in colour pink and silver, and in prints Marvel and Mickey Mouse for $29 from now until July 17. They’re currently still available online, but if you’re keen to buy them, I’d suggest you act soon. The black version for $49 is already sold out.
If you do miss out, though, might I suggest you consider investing in the real thing, an official Oodie? If you calculate cost per wear, honestly, it’s still a bargain. Here are three of our favourites.
