“See You Soon, Neighbour”: Netflix’s You Has Been Renewed for a Third Season

You

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers for Netflix series You, season two.

“New Year, New You,” a message read on the official Twitter account of Netflix hit series, You, officially announcing a third season.

Both Penn Badgley (Joe Goldberg/Will Bettelheim) and his — season two spoiler alert — love interest/baby mumma, Victoria Pedretti (Love Quinn) will both be returning for a 10 episode season, which is expected to premiere in 2021.

Yes, we know. 2021 is very far away. And we have SO many questions.

Who is the new neighbour we met in the season finale? Will Joe and Quinn couple up and obsess over her together? And more importantly, what will Joe and Love be like as parents?

You’s second season saw Joe relocate from NYC to Los Angeles, where he met new love interest, Love.

In an interview with TV Line, Badgley revealed that he and his new lover were “not soulmates”.

“He’s afraid of her at the end,” he admitted.

“Basically, it’s set up for Season 3 in a way where they would be each other’s arch nemesis.”

As for being a good father, the 33-year-old doesn’t think Joe has it in him.

Does he have it in him, in that he’s a human being? Is it possible? Sure. And if there’s anything that can change a person, it’s parenthood. But I don’t know that Joe can or should change. I certainly don’t know if he will change.”

During the season two finale, we were introduced to the new “You” — and the only thing we learnt was that she is the neighbour next door who sunbakes in a large hat and has lovely hands and an engagement ring.

“This is just the beginning,” Badgley’s Joe says at the end of the scene. “Because this is where I had to be exactly, where I had to be to meet You.”

And just like a lot of other things in the series (like is Love’s child actually Joe’s) fan’s have a lot of theories about who “she” is — the most popular being that the neighbour is in fact, Joe’s estranged mother.

After flashbacks throughout the entire season, there was speculation that Joe had tracked down his mother.

However, in an interview with Bustle, Badgley debunked the theory.

“She’s definitely not his mum,” he said. “I can say that.”

Guess we’ll have to wait until 2021 to find out who she is.
