Get Your Laugh on Anywhere, Anytime With This New Netflix Feature

In exciting tech news, Netflix is rolling out Fast Laughs — a TikTok style feed of comedic videos within the streamer’s mobile app.

The fun new feature will allow users to watch, share the clips, as well as share their reactions to them. Additionally, if you find what you see particularly funny, you can add the show or film to your Netflix watchlist, so you can enjoy the full-length version when you are so inclined.

To start with, the clips available will be from Netflix’s own comedy catalogue, which means you can get your funny on with snippets of stand-up comedians like Ali Wong and Kevin Hart along with films such as Murder Mystery starring Jennifer Aniston, animated series such as Nick Kroll’s Big Mouth or sitcoms like The Crew starring Kevin James.

As a bonus, if you like what you see, you can also push the “Play” button to start watching the program immediately.

Netflix told TechCrunch that the feature will tap into its full catalogue, not just its own original programs. However, the company couldn’t say how many total shows or movies would be featured in the new experience at any given time.

Given that much comedy tends to skew a little on the adult side, the Fast Laughs tab won’t appear on the Netflix kids profile, so parents won’t have to worry about their little ones absorbing some NSFW content. Phew.

According to TechCrunch Fast Laughs could help Netflix compete with TikTok in terms of time spent on mobile devices, as it caters to the growing demand for shorter, more “snackable” video content.

Users can access the feed through the bottom navigation menu by clicking on the Fast Laughs tab. Clips will start playing, and when one ends another begins so the laughs will keep coming.

Netflix says the feature is rolling out now to iOS and will begin testing on Android in the months to come.
