Everything We Know About ‘Cursed’ Starring Aussie Katherine Langford

Netflix

The story of King Arthur and the legendary sword in the stone has been retold for centuries.

When we were kids, the Disney imagining, The Sword in the Stone, told the story of King Arthur in childhood as he is being instructed by the magician Merlin and his owl, Archimedes.

Although it doesn’t stick to the original story, the tale is intriguing and the audience is swept up in the magical worlds.

Now, Netflix is bringing to life a live-action adaptation of Cursed, a reimagining of the Arthurian tales, starring Australian actor Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why).

The series is set to premiere on July 17 worldwide but before it hits our devices, here’s everything we know about Cursed.

What is Cursed about?

Based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same name, Cursed is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue (Katherine Langford), a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake.

After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur (Devon Terrell), a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin (Gustaf Skarsgård) and deliver an ancient sword.

Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther (Sebastian Armesto).

Cursed is a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.
