On Monday, September 13 — our Tuesday, here in Australia — some of the world’s biggest names descended on The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to celebrate this year’s Met Gala.
If you’re not familiar with the annual event — officially called the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit — it’s a black-tie extravaganza that sees its guests (or let’s be honest, their teams) flexing their creative muscles to come up with head-turning outfits that adhere to an annual theme.
This year’s theme was American Independence, a celebration of American fashion. And from Lil Nas X in a gold armour suit, to Kim Kardashian in head-to-toe (literally — she didn’t have a patch of skin showing) black, the looks this year did not disappoint.
