Melbourne Zoo has just announced that they’ll be hosting their very own Zoo Summer Cinema program throughout February and March—Melbourne’s warmest months.

Watching an old classic film, or a new arthouse favourite on a balmy evening surrounded by some of the world’s most beautiful animal sounds like a summer activity not to be missed.

Set to run every Thursday – Saturday from February 3 – March 12, the set list includes new releases from critically acclaimed cult directors, including Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza and Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, alongside classics such as 10 Things I Hate About You and Jurassic Park.

Date night idea, much? Literally the most perfect idea for a V-Day night out with your boo, or a group of mates.

With all ticket sales going towards supporting the work of Melbourne Zoo’s Marine Response Unit, not only are you in for a fab night, but you’re also helping distressed marine animals get the help they need. Win win.

The MRU’s work to rescue injured marine wildlife, including seals and seabirds in Victoria. Last year, they recorded its biggest ever year, responding to 918 cases over 12 months.

So much more than just a film screening; Zoo Summer Cinema ticketholders will have access to the Melbourne Zoo grounds from 5.30pm, with DJs and keeper talks before the feature film screening at 8:00pm.

There will also be food hampers available for pre-order, and a different food truck for each film.
