See: First-Look of Lady Gaga in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’

Lady Gaga

Drop everything ‘cos we’ve just been given our first look at Lady Gaga in “Joker: Folie à Deux”. As a special Valentine’s Day treat, filmmaker Todd Phillips shared to Instagram a first-look pic of Gaga in a scene from the flick.

Gaga will be playing the character Harley Quinn in the sequel to 2019 film “Joker”, which made quite a splash when released in 2019, drawing in a whopping $1.07 billion at the global box office and earning 12 Oscar nominations.

Phoenix took home the best actor trophy and Hildur Guðnadóttir scooped up the award for best original score. Phillips is once again in the director’s chair, guiding the film he wrote alongside Scott Silver.

The sequel’s set to be released on October 4, 2024, and is currently being filming in New York and Los Angeles. Gaga and Phillips should be good mates by now, having worked together on “A Star Is Born” too, which Phillips produced. Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener are also thought to star.

Back in June last year, Phillips announced the project and shared a picture of Phoenix deep in thought, seemingly reading the script. At the time, he hadn’t yet been confirmed to be starring in the film.

Then in December, Phillips shared a photo of Phoenix in character as Arthur Fleck with the caption: “Day 1. Our boy. #joker.”

The original movie followed an aspiring stand-up comedian who worked as a clown and suffered from mental health issues. As his life started to fall apart, he began to spiral and started taking on the iconic Joker persona.

Folie à deux is a medical term for an identical or similar mental disorder impacting two or more people, which could give us some idea of what’s to come for the sequel. Maybe Harley Quinn will be involved in the mental health issues too?
